Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an authenticated arbitrary file delete flaw in the SP Page Builder Joomla extension version before 6.7.1. It allows attackers with access to exploit improper path validation and insufficient access control list (ACL) checks to delete arbitrary files through the media manager.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if SP Page Builder version is below 6.7.1. Inspect Joomla's media manager for unauthorized file deletions or suspicious activity logs.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to delete critical files on your Joomla site, potentially causing data loss, site disruption, or unauthorized modifications. Since it requires authentication, the risk is higher if user accounts are compromised.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to non-compliance with GDPR or HIPAA by enabling unauthorized file deletion, potentially violating data integrity and availability requirements. Organizations may face penalties if sensitive data is lost due to exploitation.

Mitigation Strategies

Update SP Page Builder to version 6.7.1 or higher immediately. Review file deletion logs and restrict access to media manager functions for non-admin users.
