Executive Summary

Tenda W6-S 1.0.0.4(510) has a stack-based buffer overflow in the /goform/wifiSSIDset endpoint. The function formwrlSSIDset uses sprintf to copy user-controlled 'GO' and 'index' parameters into a 64-byte stack buffer without length checks, causing a stack overflow.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability can be detected by checking if your Tenda W6-S router is running firmware version 1.0.0.4(510). Use the router's admin interface or SSH to verify the firmware version. If vulnerable, inspect network traffic for requests to the /goform/wifiSSIDset endpoint with unusually long 'GO' or 'index' parameters.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to execute arbitrary code on the device, gain control of the router, or cause a denial of service by crashing the system. This may lead to network compromise or unauthorized access.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the Tenda W6-S router to the latest firmware version if available. If no update exists, disable remote administration and restrict access to the router's admin interface. Monitor network traffic for suspicious activity targeting the /goform/wifiSSIDset endpoint.
