Description

The Forminator Forms – Contact Form, Payment Form & Custom Form Builder plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object Reference in all versions up to, and including, 1.55.0.2 via the 'draft' parameter due to missing validation on a user controlled key. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to enumerate sequential integer entry IDs via the 'draft' parameter and read other users' saved draft form data, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, and free-form message content. This is only exploitable on forms that have the 'Save and Continue' feature enabled.

It allows unauthenticated attackers to access other users' saved draft form data by manipulating the 'draft' parameter. The flaw exists due to missing validation on a user-controlled key in versions up to 1.55.0.2.

Detection Guidance

Check WordPress sites using Forminator plugin versions up to 1.55.0.2. Look for unusual GET requests to draft parameter endpoints. Monitor logs for sequential integer IDs in form submissions.

Impact Analysis

Attackers could read sensitive form data submitted by other users, including names, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses, and message content. This is only possible if the form has the 'Save and Continue' feature enabled.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal data, potentially violating GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health information privacy) requirements. Exposure of user data may result in non-compliance penalties and legal consequences.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Forminator plugin to latest version. Disable the 'Save and Continue' feature in form settings. Implement WAF rules to block suspicious draft parameter requests. Review saved drafts for unauthorized access.
