Executive Summary

This is an unauthenticated server-side request forgery (SSRF) vulnerability in a legacy endpoint of Commvault Command Center. It allows attackers to manipulate the server into making unauthorized requests to arbitrary target URLs without authentication.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if your Commvault Command Center is running a vulnerable version. Verify the installed version by logging into Command Center, navigating to Manage > Servers or Manage > Infrastructure > Servers, and filtering by the relevant role to confirm the version is 11.46.10 or higher, 11.44.11 or higher, 11.40.63 or higher, or 11.36.114 or higher.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to access internal systems, exfiltrate data, or perform unauthorized actions on behalf of the vulnerable server. The high CVSS score (8.8) indicates significant risk of remote exploitation.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or disclosure, violating GDPR's data protection requirements and HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Non-compliance risks include fines and legal penalties.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately upgrade to the resolved maintenance release versions: 11.46.10 or above, 11.44.11 or above, 11.40.63 or above, or 11.36.114 or above. This addresses the unauthenticated SSRF vulnerability in the legacy endpoint.
