Executive Summary

This vulnerability in the Fluent Support WordPress plugin before version 2.3.1 allows a restricted support agent to reassign a ticket's customer without proper access checks. This means an agent with limited permissions can change the customer assigned to any ticket in the system, even tickets outside their normal scope.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability could allow unauthorized users to reassign tickets to different customers, potentially disrupting support workflows or exposing sensitive customer information. It undermines the intended access controls of the plugin.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could potentially impact compliance with GDPR and HIPAA by allowing unauthorized access to customer data. A restricted support agent could reassign tickets to other customers, exposing sensitive information to unintended parties. This violates data protection principles under GDPR (e.g., Article 5) and HIPAA (e.g., access controls).

Mitigation Strategies

Update the Fluent Support WordPress plugin to version 2.3.1 or later to address the access control flaw.
