Executive Summary

This is a Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in WGDashboard version 4.2.3 and earlier. It allows authenticated attackers to inject and execute arbitrary operating system commands with root privileges due to multiple OS command injection flaws.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if WGDashboard version 4.2.3 or earlier is installed on your system. You can run commands like 'dpkg -l | grep wgdashboard' for Debian-based systems or 'rpm -qa | grep wgdashboard' for RPM-based systems to verify the version.

Impact Analysis

If you use WGDashboard version 4.2.3 or earlier, an attacker with valid credentials could exploit this to run malicious commands on your system as the root user. This could lead to full system compromise, data theft, or further network attacks.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access and data breaches, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection and access control. Organizations may face fines or penalties if exploited due to inadequate security measures.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update WGDashboard to a version later than 4.2.3 to patch the OS command injection flaw. If updating is not possible, restrict access to the WGDashboard interface to trusted users only and monitor for suspicious activity.
