Executive Summary

The MStore API WordPress plugin before version 4.21.0 has an authentication bypass vulnerability. Detection Guidance

Check the installed version of the MStore API plugin in your WordPress admin panel. If the version is below 4.21.0, the system is vulnerable. Look for unusual login activity or unauthorized account access, especially via phone-based authentication.

Unauthenticated attackers could gain control of any user account, including administrator accounts, by exploiting this flaw. This could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, website defacement, or further compromise of the WordPress site.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal or sensitive data, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection and access control. Organizations may face compliance violations, legal penalties, and reputational damage.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the MStore API plugin to version 4.21.0 or later through the WordPress admin panel. If updating is not possible, disable the plugin temporarily until an update is applied.
