Executive Summary

IBM Db2 Mirror for i versions 7.4, 7.5, and 7.6 are vulnerable to a cross-site scripting issue. A remote authenticated attacker could exploit this to execute arbitrary scripts in the context of a user's session.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this vulnerability requires checking for cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in IBM Db2 Mirror for i web interfaces. Inspect web application logs for suspicious script execution or input validation failures. Use tools like OWASP ZAP or Burp Suite to scan for XSS flaws in the Db2 Mirror web interface. Ensure input fields are properly sanitized and validate all user inputs.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or data breaches, potentially violating GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health data privacy) requirements. Organizations may face compliance penalties if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest IBM Db2 Mirror for i patches or updates to address the XSS vulnerability. Implement input validation and output encoding for all user-supplied data in the web interface. Configure Content Security Policy (CSP) headers to mitigate XSS risks. Restrict access to the Db2 Mirror web interface to trusted networks or users.
