CWE ID Description
CWE-190 The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This occurs when an integer value is incremented to a value that is too large to store in the associated representation. When this occurs, the value may become a very small or negative number.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an integer overflow in the GPU component of Google Chrome versions before 151.0.7922.109. It allows a remote attacker who has already compromised the renderer process to leak data across different origins by exploiting a crafted HTML page.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability is specific to Google Chrome versions prior to 151.0.7922.109. Detection involves checking the installed Chrome version. On Windows, run: wmic product where "name like 'Google Chrome'" get version. On Linux, run: google-chrome --version. If the version is below 151.0.7922.109, the system is vulnerable.

Impact Analysis

If you use an affected version of Chrome, a malicious website could potentially access sensitive data from other sites you are logged into, such as personal information or authentication tokens, due to the cross-origin data leak.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data exposure, which may violate GDPR's data protection principles or HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Organizations using vulnerable Chrome versions may face compliance risks if user data is leaked.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Google Chrome to version 151.0.7922.109 or later to address the integer overflow vulnerability in GPU.
