Executive Summary

This vulnerability affects the Easy Appointments WordPress plugin before version 4.0.1. It allows users with contributor-level access to view all bookings on the site through a REST endpoint that does not restrict data to the requesting user. This exposes customer names, schedules, and statuses.

Detection Guidance

Check if your WordPress site uses the Easy Appointments plugin version prior to 4.0.1. Log in as a contributor-level user and attempt to access the appointment-listing REST endpoint to see if unauthorized data is exposed. Verify plugin version via WordPress admin panel or database.

Impact Analysis

If you use the Easy Appointments plugin before version 4.0.1, an attacker with contributor-level access could steal sensitive booking data, including customer names and schedules. This could lead to privacy breaches or misuse of appointment information.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could violate GDPR by exposing personal data without consent and HIPAA by disclosing protected health information if appointments involve such data. Organizations may face fines or penalties for non-compliance.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the Easy Appointments plugin to version 4.0.1 or later immediately. If updating is not possible, restrict contributor-level access to sensitive endpoints via server-side rules or disable the plugin until patched.
