Intel Transfer Learning Tool Privilege Escalation

Vulnerability report for CVE-2026-39452, including description, CVSS score, EPSS score, affected products, exploitability, helpful resources, and attack-flow context.

Publication date: 2026-08-11

Last updated on: 2026-08-12

Assigner: Intel Corporation

Description

Protection mechanism failure for some Intel(R) Transfer Learning Tool before version v0.7 within Ring 3: User Applications may allow an escalation of privilege. Unprivileged software adversary with an unauthenticated user combined with a low complexity attack may enable escalation of privilege. This result may potentially occur via network access when attack requirements are present without special internal knowledge and requires no user interaction. The potential vulnerability may impact the confidentiality (low), integrity (low) and availability (low) of the vulnerable system, resulting in subsequent system confidentiality (none), integrity (none) and availability (none) impacts.

Executive Summary

This is a protection mechanism failure in Intel Transfer Learning Tool before v0.7. It allows an unauthenticated attacker with low complexity to escalate privileges via network access without user interaction. The attack requires no special internal knowledge and can impact system confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Detection Guidance

Detection methods are not specified in the provided CVE details. Intel Transfer Learning Tool v0.7 or earlier may be affected, but no specific detection commands are available here.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could gain elevated privileges on your system, potentially leading to unauthorized access, data manipulation, or system disruption. Since it requires network access and no user interaction, external threats are a primary concern.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or data breaches, violating GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health data privacy). Non-compliance risks include legal penalties, fines, and reputational damage due to compromised confidentiality and integrity.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Intel Transfer Learning Tool to version v0.7 or later to address the protection mechanism failure. Ensure network access controls are in place to limit unauthorized access.
