Executive Summary

CVE-2026-4757 is a flaw in AXIS OS versions 12.0.0 through 12.11.43 where improper input validation in a VAPIX API parameter could allow code execution and privilege escalation. Exploitation requires authentication with an administrator account.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if your AXIS OS version is between 12.0.0 and 12.11.43. Use the VAPIX API to inspect input validation in API parameters. No specific commands are provided, but monitoring for unauthorized code execution or privilege changes may indicate exploitation.

Impact Analysis

An attacker with admin access could execute arbitrary code on the device, potentially gaining full control. This could lead to unauthorized access, data breaches, or disruption of device functionality.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could potentially impact compliance with GDPR or HIPAA if exploited, as it may allow unauthorized code execution and privilege escalation. Unauthorized access to systems could lead to data breaches, violating confidentiality requirements under these regulations.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update AXIS OS to version 12.11.44 or later. If using Active Track, apply the patch. For other supported versions, follow Axis's maintenance schedule. Restrict administrator-privileged account access to reduce exposure.
