Executive Summary

This vulnerability in NVIDIA Dynamo for Linux allows an attacker to bypass pathname restrictions by providing a specially crafted local path in a multimodal request. This could enable unauthorized access to restricted directories, potentially leading to sensitive information being exposed.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this vulnerability requires checking if NVIDIA Dynamo for Linux versions 0 to v1.1.0 are installed and running. Inspect installed packages using commands like 'dpkg -l | grep dynamo' on Debian-based systems or 'rpm -qa | grep dynamo' on RPM-based systems. Review application logs for unusual multimodal requests or local path manipulations.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to access files or directories they should not be able to, resulting in information disclosure. This could include sensitive data like configuration files, logs, or other confidential information stored on the system.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal or sensitive data, violating compliance requirements under GDPR, HIPAA, or other regulations. Organizations may face legal penalties, reputational damage, and loss of trust due to data breaches resulting from this issue.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update NVIDIA Dynamo for Linux to the latest version beyond v1.1.0. If an update is unavailable, restrict network access to the application and disable multimodal request handling. Monitor for suspicious activity and apply NVIDIA's official security patches or advisories as soon as they are released.
