Executive Summary

CVE-2026-50768 is a File Upload vulnerability in T-Systems ImageMaster version 9.14.2.8.1. It allows a remote attacker to upload files with dangerous extensions like .php, .exe, or .html without proper validation. This can lead to arbitrary code execution or stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, monitor for unusual file uploads with dangerous extensions (.php, .exe, .html, .com, .jsp) in ImageMaster version 9.14.2.8.1. Check application logs for file upload attempts and inspect uploaded files for malicious content. Use network traffic analysis to identify suspicious file transfers.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to upload malicious files, execute arbitrary code on the server, or perform XSS attacks. This may lead to data breaches, unauthorized access, or system compromise if the application processes these files.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could violate GDPR by exposing personal data or failing to ensure data integrity. For HIPAA, it may risk unauthorized access to protected health information. Compliance failures could result in legal penalties or reputational damage.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately upgrade ImageMaster to the latest patched version. Disable file upload functionality if not required. Implement strict file type validation to block dangerous extensions. Use a web application firewall to filter malicious uploads. Restrict user permissions to minimize attack surface.
