Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an incorrect access control issue in the getOnlineClient function of TOTOLINK T6 firmware version 4.1.5cu.748_B20211015. It allows unauthenticated attackers to retrieve online client information by sending a specially crafted POST request to the endpoint /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, monitor network traffic for POST requests to /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi with parameters targeting the getOnlineClient function. Use tools like tcpdump or Wireshark to capture and inspect requests. Check server logs for unusual POST requests to this endpoint.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to gather sensitive information about connected clients on the network without authentication. This may include IP addresses, device identifiers, or other network details, potentially aiding further attacks or privacy violations.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the TOTOLINK T6 firmware to the latest version if an update is available. If no update exists, restrict access to the /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi endpoint via firewall rules or disable unnecessary services. Monitor network traffic for suspicious POST requests to this path.
