Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an incorrect access control issue in the getDmzCfg function of TOTOLINK T6 firmware version 4.1.5cu.748_B20211015. It allows unauthenticated attackers to retrieve DMZ configuration details by sending a specially crafted POST request to the vulnerable endpoint /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check if your TOTOLINK T6 device running firmware 4.1.5cu.748_B20211015 is accessible via HTTP POST requests to /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi. Send a crafted POST request to this endpoint and verify if DMZ configuration details are returned without authentication.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to obtain sensitive network configuration information without authentication. This may enable further attacks such as network reconnaissance, lateral movement within the network, or bypassing security controls by leveraging exposed DMZ settings.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the TOTOLINK T6 firmware to the latest version. If no update is available, restrict access to the /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi endpoint via firewall rules or disable remote administration until a patch is applied.
