Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an incorrect access control issue in the TOTOLINK T6 router firmware version 4.1.5cu.748_B20211015. It allows unauthenticated attackers to change the WPS availability setting by sending a specially crafted POST request to the device's web interface at /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, monitor network traffic for POST requests to /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi with parameters related to WPS configuration changes. Check if unauthenticated requests are modifying WiFi WPS settings.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to enable or disable WPS on your router without authentication, potentially allowing unauthorized devices to connect to your network. This could lead to network compromise, data theft, or further attacks on connected devices.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the TOTOLINK T6 firmware to the latest version. Disable WPS functionality if not required. Restrict access to the /cgi-bin/cstecgi.cgi endpoint via network firewall rules.
