Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) flaw in Tobit Laboratories AG TeamDavid's Webbox application. An attacker can send an email containing malicious JavaScript code. When a user opens the email, the embedded script executes, potentially allowing the attacker to steal data or perform unauthorized actions on the user's behalf.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this stored XSS vulnerability requires monitoring for malicious JavaScript in emails processed by TeamDavid's Webbox. Check email content for unusual scripts or payloads, especially in HTML emails. Inspect server logs for suspicious email interactions or unexpected script executions.

Impact Analysis

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to personal data, violating GDPR's data protection requirements. For HIPAA, it may compromise protected health information if exploited in healthcare environments. Organizations must address this to maintain compliance.

Mitigation Strategies

Update TeamDavid to the latest rollout version beyond Rollout 524. Disable HTML email rendering if possible. Implement email content filtering to block or sanitize JavaScript code. Monitor for signs of exploitation and restrict email access to trusted sources.
