Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in Oracle Java SE, GraalVM for JDK, and GraalVM Enterprise Edition. It allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access to read a subset of data in the affected products. The attack is difficult to exploit and requires supplying data to specific APIs without using untrusted Java Web Start or applets.

Detection Guidance

Detection involves checking installed Java versions and verifying if they fall within affected ranges (8u501, 11.0.32, 17.0.20, 21.0.12, 25.0.4, 26.0.2). Use commands like 'java -version' or 'where java' to identify installed versions.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to access some data stored in the affected Java or GraalVM products. The impact is limited to unauthorized read access, meaning data could be viewed but not modified or deleted.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthorized read access to a subset of data, which could lead to unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information. This may impact compliance with GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health information privacy) by increasing the risk of data breaches.

Mitigation Strategies

Update affected Java versions to the latest patched releases. Remove or disable any unnecessary Java services. Monitor network traffic for unusual API calls to Java components.
