Executive Summary

This is a critical vulnerability in Oracle WebLogic Server that allows unauthenticated attackers to remotely compromise the server via T3 or IIOP protocols. Successful exploitation can lead to full server takeover with high impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Detection Guidance

Check if Oracle WebLogic Server versions 12.2.1.4.0, 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, or 15.1.1.0.0 are running. Inspect network traffic for T3 or IIOP protocol usage on default ports (typically 7001, 7002). Use tools like Nmap to scan for open ports and services.

Impact Analysis

If you use affected versions of Oracle WebLogic Server (12.2.1.4.0, 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, or 15.1.1.0.0), an attacker could gain complete control over your server, steal data, modify systems, or disrupt operations without needing credentials.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, violating GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health information privacy) requirements. Organizations may face legal penalties, reputational damage, and mandatory breach notifications.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest Oracle WebLogic Server patches immediately. Disable T3 and IIOP protocols if not required. Restrict network access to WebLogic Server ports using firewalls. Monitor for unusual activity or unauthorized access attempts.
