Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in Oracle Identity Manager, specifically in the OIM Legacy UI component. It affects versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0. The issue allows a low-privileged attacker with network access via T3 or IIOP protocols to compromise the system. Successful exploitation could lead to a full takeover of Oracle Identity Manager.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability affects Oracle Identity Manager versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0 via T3 or IIOP protocols. Check for open ports 7001 (default for T3) and 900 (default for IIOP) on systems running Oracle Identity Manager. Use network scanning tools like nmap to identify these ports. Verify if the Oracle Identity Manager service is running and accessible via these protocols.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to gain control of Oracle Identity Manager, potentially leading to unauthorized access, data breaches, or disruption of identity management services. This could impact confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows takeover of Oracle Identity Manager, which could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data. Such access may violate compliance requirements under GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health information security) by exposing confidential information.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest Oracle Critical Patch Update (CPU) for Oracle Identity Manager immediately. Restrict network access to T3 and IIOP ports using firewalls. Disable unnecessary services and protocols if not in use. Monitor Oracle Security Alerts for updates and patches. Consider upgrading to a non-vulnerable version if available.
