Executive Summary

This is a critical vulnerability in Oracle Identity Manager, specifically in the OIM Legacy UI component. It allows an unauthenticated attacker to remotely access and compromise the system via HTTP. Successful exploitation could lead to complete takeover of Oracle Identity Manager.

Detection Guidance

Since this is an unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in Oracle Identity Manager's Legacy UI, detection should focus on identifying exposed instances of the affected versions (12.2.1.4.0 or 14.1.2.1.0) on your network. Check for open HTTP ports (typically 80 or 443) and inspect web server banners or application responses for Oracle Identity Manager. Use network scanners like Nmap to identify services running on default ports associated with Oracle Identity Manager.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could gain full control over your Oracle Identity Manager system, potentially accessing sensitive data, modifying configurations, or disrupting services. This could lead to data breaches, unauthorized access to user accounts, or system downtime.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to non-compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, and other regulations due to unauthorized access to personal or sensitive data. Organizations may face legal penalties, reputational damage, and loss of trust if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest security patches from Oracle for Oracle Identity Manager versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0. Disable HTTP access if not required and restrict network access to the OIM Legacy UI component.
