Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in Oracle Unified Directory, part of Oracle Fusion Middleware. It affects versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0. A low-privileged attacker with network access via LDAP could exploit it to compromise the directory service. Successful exploitation could lead to full takeover of Oracle Unified Directory.

Detection Guidance

Detection of CVE-2026-60849 requires monitoring for unusual LDAP access patterns or unauthorized administrative actions targeting Oracle Unified Directory. Check logs for excessive failed login attempts or unexpected privilege escalations. Use Oracle's diagnostic tools like OUD logs and network traffic analysis to identify suspicious LDAP queries or modifications.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could gain control of Oracle Unified Directory, potentially leading to unauthorized access, data breaches, or disruption of services relying on this directory. Since the scope may expand, other connected systems could also be affected.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthorized takeover of Oracle Unified Directory, which could lead to unauthorized access or modification of sensitive data. This may violate compliance requirements under GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health information security) by exposing confidential or protected information.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest security patches from Oracle for Oracle Unified Directory versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0. Restrict network access to LDAP ports and monitor for unusual LDAP activity. Review and enforce least privilege access controls for users.
