Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in Oracle Identity Manager, a product under Oracle Fusion Middleware. It affects versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0. The issue allows a low-privileged attacker with network access via RMI to compromise the system. Successful exploitation can lead to a full takeover of Oracle Identity Manager.

Detection Guidance

Detection requires checking for Oracle Identity Manager versions 12.2.1.4.0 or 14.1.2.1.0. Verify if RMI ports are exposed and accessible. Use network scanning tools like nmap to identify Oracle Identity Manager services. Check application logs for unusual RMI-related activity or unauthorized access attempts.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could gain control of Oracle Identity Manager, potentially leading to unauthorized access, data breaches, or disruption of services. Since attacks may impact additional products, the scope of impact could be broader than just Oracle Identity Manager.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply Oracle's official security patches immediately. Restrict network access to RMI ports using firewalls. Disable RMI if not required. Upgrade to a non-vulnerable version if available. Monitor for suspicious activity and isolate affected systems until patched.
