Executive Summary

CVE-2026-6181 is an authentication bypass vulnerability in the Device Configuration Framework of certain AXIS OS versions. It allows unauthorized access after authenticating with a viewer-privileged service account.

Detection Guidance

Detection requires checking if your AXIS OS version is affected and verifying if viewer-privileged accounts are in use. Review installed AXIS OS versions against the patched releases (Active Track 12.11.13 or LTS 2024 11.11.207). Inspect service accounts with viewer privileges for unauthorized access patterns.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this flaw to gain unauthorized access to device configurations, potentially leading to data exposure or system manipulation. However, exploitation requires prior access to a viewer-privileged account.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could potentially impact compliance with GDPR or HIPAA if exploited, as it allows unauthorized access to sensitive device configurations after authentication. Unauthorized access to such data may violate confidentiality requirements under these regulations.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Axis device software to patched versions: Active Track 12.11.13 or LTS 2024 11.11.207. Apply updates per maintenance schedules for other supported devices.
