Executive Summary

This is an Improper Access Control vulnerability in Apache CloudStack's Kubernetes Service (CKS) plugin. It allows a user from one tenant to manipulate the Kubernetes cluster by adding or removing nodes, which should only be possible for authorized users within their own tenant.

Impact Analysis

If you use Apache CloudStack with the CKS plugin versions 4.21.0.0 through 4.22.1.0, an attacker could gain unauthorized control over your Kubernetes cluster nodes. This could lead to data breaches, service disruption, or unauthorized access to other tenants' resources.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could violate compliance requirements such as GDPR (data protection) or HIPAA (health data security) by allowing unauthorized access to sensitive data or systems. Proper access controls are critical for maintaining regulatory compliance.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Apache CloudStack to version 4.22.1.1 or later to fix the improper access control in the CKS plugin.
