Executive Summary

This vulnerability allows an unauthenticated remote attacker with network access to execute arbitrary code on systems running WhatsUp Gold versions before 2026.0.2. The attack occurs in the context of the IIS application service account, meaning the attacker gains the same permissions as the service running the application.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to take full control of the affected system, steal sensitive data, install malware, or disrupt services. Since it requires only network access, it poses a significant risk to unpatched systems.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection and access controls. Organizations may face compliance penalties if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Update WhatsUp Gold to version 2026.0.2 or later to address the vulnerability. Ensure the system is patched immediately to prevent unauthenticated remote code execution.
