Executive Summary

DEEBOT PRO M1 and DEEBOT PRO K1VAC devices do not validate server certificates during MQTT communications. This allows potential attackers to intercept or manipulate communications, potentially exposing operation and activity logs stored on the devices.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability involves unvalidated MQTT server certificates on DEEBOT PRO M1 and DEEBOT PRO K1VAC devices, potentially exposing operation and activity logs. Detection requires inspecting MQTT traffic for certificate validation failures or unusual log retrieval attempts. Use network monitoring tools like Wireshark to capture MQTT packets and check for certificate errors. Inspect device logs for unauthorized access or data exfiltration patterns.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could access sensitive logs containing details about device usage, location data, or cleaning patterns. This may lead to privacy breaches or unauthorized monitoring of activities performed by the robot vacuum.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could violate data protection requirements under GDPR or HIPAA by exposing personal or sensitive information through insecure communications. Organizations using these devices may fail to meet compliance standards for data security and privacy.

Mitigation Strategies

Disable MQTT communications for DEEBOT PRO M1 and DEEBOT PRO K1VAC if possible. Update firmware to a patched version if available. Monitor network traffic for unauthorized data exfiltration attempts.
