Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in Oracle Fusion Middleware's Helidon product, specifically in the Imperative Web Server component. It affects version 3.2.18 and allows a low-privileged attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise the system. Successful exploitation can lead to unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Helidon-accessible data, as well as unauthorized data modification.

Detection Guidance

Detection of CVE-2026-71155 requires checking for vulnerable versions of Oracle Helidon 3.2.18. Inspect installed Helidon packages using commands like 'dpkg -l | grep helidon' (Debian/Ubuntu) or 'rpm -qa | grep helidon' (RHEL/CentOS). Review HTTP server logs for unusual access patterns or requests targeting Helidon endpoints.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability can allow attackers to gain unauthorized access to sensitive data or modify data within the Helidon system. Since Helidon is part of Oracle Fusion Middleware, attacks may also impact other connected products, potentially leading to broader data breaches or system compromises.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or modification of sensitive data, which may violate compliance requirements under GDPR, HIPAA, or other regulations. Organizations using affected Helidon versions may face legal penalties, data breach notifications, and reputational damage due to non-compliance.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Helidon to a version that is not affected by this vulnerability. If an update is not available, consider disabling the Imperative Web Server component or restricting network access to it via firewall rules. Monitor Oracle's security advisories for patches.
