Executive Summary

This vulnerability affects Oracle Fusion Middleware's Helidon product, specifically version 3.2.18. It allows an unauthenticated attacker to cause a partial denial of service (DOS) by exploiting the Imperative Web Server component through HTTP network access.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this vulnerability requires checking if your system is running Oracle Helidon version 3.2.18. Use commands like 'java -jar helidon.jar --version' or check application logs for Helidon framework references. Monitor network traffic for HTTP requests targeting Helidon services.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to disrupt the availability of the Helidon service, leading to partial outages or degraded performance. This may affect applications relying on Helidon for web services.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability causes a partial denial of service in the Helidon product, which could disrupt availability of services. While it does not directly impact confidentiality or integrity, availability issues may affect compliance with standards requiring system uptime or data accessibility, such as GDPR's data processing requirements or HIPAA's availability rules.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Oracle Helidon to a version later than 3.2.18. Apply patches from Oracle as soon as they are available. Restrict network access to Helidon services via firewalls or network segmentation. Monitor for unusual HTTP traffic patterns indicating exploitation attempts.
