Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check the firmware version of your MSI Radix AXE6600 router. If the version is v781521 or earlier, the device is vulnerable. Use the router's admin interface or SSH to verify the firmware version.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow attackers to take full control of your router, access sensitive data, modify network settings, or use the device as a pivot point for further attacks. Since it grants root privileges, the impact is severe and could compromise your entire network.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, violating GDPR and HIPAA requirements for data protection and confidentiality. Organizations may face legal penalties, loss of customer trust, and compliance failures due to potential data breaches.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the router's firmware to version v782418 or later, which fixes the vulnerability. If an update is not available, consider isolating the device from the network or replacing it with a patched model.
