Executive Summary

This vulnerability affects Oracle Fusion Middleware's Helidon product, specifically version 4.5.0. It allows an unauthenticated attacker to access some of Helidon's data through the Imperative Web Server component by sending HTTP requests. The impact is limited to unauthorized read access to a subset of accessible data.

Detection Guidance

Since this is a vulnerability in Oracle Helidon 4.5.0 allowing unauthorized read access via HTTP, detection should focus on identifying exposed Helidon instances and checking for unusual data access patterns. Inspect network traffic for HTTP requests to Helidon endpoints, verify server versions, and monitor for unauthorized data retrieval attempts. No specific commands are provided in the context.

Impact Analysis

If you use Helidon version 4.5.0, an attacker could exploit this flaw to read sensitive data from your system without needing authentication. This could lead to data breaches, exposing confidential or proprietary information.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access, which may violate GDPR's data protection requirements or HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Organizations using Helidon 4.5.0 may face compliance violations and potential penalties.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Helidon to a version unaffected by this vulnerability. If upgrading is not immediately possible, restrict network access to the Imperative Web Server component via firewall rules or network segmentation to limit exposure.
