Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in Oracle Helidon's Imperative Web Server (version 3.2.18). It allows unauthenticated attackers to remotely access and manipulate data through HTTP requests. The flaw enables unauthorized read, update, insert, or delete operations on accessible data within Helidon.

Detection Guidance

Since no specific detection methods or commands are provided in the CVE details, general network scanning and vulnerability assessment tools like Nmap or Nessus may help identify vulnerable Helidon instances. Check for exposed HTTP services on port 80 or 443 and verify Helidon version 3.2.18.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to access sensitive data, modify or delete records, or insert malicious data. Since Helidon is part of Oracle Fusion Middleware, impacts may extend to other connected systems, potentially disrupting services or leaking confidential information.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or modification, violating GDPR's data protection requirements and HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Non-compliance risks include legal penalties, fines, and reputational damage.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Helidon to a version later than 3.2.18, as the vulnerability affects only version 3.2.18. Apply Oracle Fusion Middleware patches if available. Restrict network access to Helidon services via firewalls or network segmentation. Monitor for unusual HTTP traffic or unauthorized data access attempts.
