Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in Oracle Fusion Middleware's Helidon product, specifically in the Imperative Web Server component. It affects version 4.5.0 and allows unauthenticated attackers to remotely exploit it via HTTP. The flaw enables unauthorized data access and modification, including read, update, insert, or delete operations on accessible Helidon data.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this vulnerability requires checking for vulnerable versions of Oracle Helidon 4.5.0. Inspect your Helidon server logs for unusual HTTP requests or unauthorized data access patterns. Use network scanning tools like Nmap to identify Helidon services running on port 8080 or other common ports. Verify installed Helidon versions with commands like 'java -jar helidon.jar --version' or check dependency files (pom.xml, build.gradle) for version 4.5.0.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to access or alter sensitive data stored in Helidon. This may lead to data breaches, unauthorized modifications, or loss of data integrity. The impact depends on the data processed by Helidon in your environment.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to non-compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, or other regulations due to unauthorized data access or modification. It may result in data breaches, violating confidentiality and integrity requirements, potentially leading to legal penalties or loss of trust.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update Helidon to a version unaffected by this vulnerability. If updating is not possible, restrict network access to the Imperative Web Server component via firewalls or network segmentation. Monitor for unusual data access or modification attempts.
