Executive Summary

This is a denial-of-service (DoS) vulnerability in Oracle Helidon's Imperative Web Server component, specifically affecting version 3.2.20. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit it remotely via HTTP to crash or hang the server repeatedly, causing complete unavailability.

Impact Analysis

If you use Oracle Helidon 3.2.20, an attacker could disrupt your web services by making them unavailable. This could lead to downtime, loss of service for users, and potential business disruptions.

Compliance Impact

This DoS vulnerability could lead to service unavailability, which may violate availability requirements in GDPR (Article 32) and HIPAA (Security Rule). Downtime could result in non-compliance if it affects data access or processing.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade Helidon to a version later than 3.2.20 to address the vulnerability. If immediate upgrade is not possible, restrict network access to the Imperative Web Server component via firewall rules or disable the affected service until patched.
