Executive Summary

This vulnerability in Red Hat Quay allows a repository administrator to access notification configurations of other repositories by knowing or guessing a notification's UUID. This includes sensitive details like webhook URLs, Slack tokens, and email addresses. The attacker can also trigger test notifications for another repository, potentially leading to unauthorized information disclosure and misuse of notification services.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability requires checking Quay repository notification configurations for unauthorized access. Since it involves UUID guessing and sensitive data exposure, monitor logs for unusual notification test triggers or configuration reads. No specific commands are provided in the context.

Impact Analysis

If you are an administrator of a Red Hat Quay repository, an attacker with access to a UUID could read your notification settings, exposing sensitive data like webhook URLs or tokens. This could lead to data breaches or unauthorized actions through your notification services.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data, potentially violating GDPR (data protection) or HIPAA (health information privacy) by exposing personal or confidential information through compromised notification settings.

Mitigation Strategies

Review and restrict access to notification UUIDs in Red Hat Quay repositories. Audit existing notification configurations for unauthorized changes and remove any suspicious webhook URLs, Slack tokens, or email addresses. Disable test notification features if not required.
