Next Terminal Unauthorized Asset Access via Portal Ping and Wake-on-LAN

Vulnerability report for CVE-2026-75108, including description, CVSS score, EPSS score, affected products, exploitability, helpful resources, and attack-flow context.

Publication date: 2026-08-17

Last updated on: 2026-08-17

Assigner: VulnCheck

Description

Next Terminal fails to enforce per-asset authorization checks on the portal ping and wake-on-LAN endpoints, allowing any authenticated user to probe and wake assets they are not granted access to. Attackers can call these endpoints with arbitrary asset identifiers to retrieve asset information including display names, reachability status, connection timing, and network addresses, or trigger wake-on-LAN packets on unauthorized assets.

Executive Summary

Next Terminal does not enforce proper authorization checks on the portal ping and wake-on-LAN endpoints. This allows any authenticated user to probe or wake assets they are not authorized to access. Attackers can use arbitrary asset identifiers to retrieve sensitive information like display names, network addresses, or trigger unauthorized wake-on-LAN packets.

Detection Guidance

Check Next Terminal logs for unauthorized access attempts to the portal ping or wake-on-LAN endpoints. Monitor network traffic for unusual wake-on-LAN packets or asset probing requests from authenticated users.

Impact Analysis

An attacker with valid credentials could gather confidential asset details or wake unauthorized devices, potentially leading to network reconnaissance, unauthorized access, or disruption of operations. This could compromise data confidentiality and system integrity.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability may violate compliance requirements that mandate strict access controls and data protection, such as GDPR's principle of least privilege or HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information. Unauthorized access to asset data could result in regulatory penalties.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply vendor patches if available. Restrict access to the vulnerable endpoints by implementing proper authorization checks. Review and update user permissions to ensure least privilege access to assets.
