CWE ID Description
CWE-416 The product reuses or references memory after it has been freed. At some point afterward, the memory may be allocated again and saved in another pointer, while the original pointer references a location somewhere within the new allocation. Any operations using the original pointer are no longer valid because the memory "belongs" to the code that operates on the new pointer.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a use-after-free issue in the Views component of Google Chrome before version 152.0.7977.65. A use-after-free occurs when a program continues to use a pointer after freeing the memory it points to, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution. In this case, a remote attacker who compromised the renderer process could exploit this to execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox by tricking a user into visiting a crafted HTML page.

Impact Analysis

If you use an affected version of Google Chrome, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to run malicious code on your computer. This might let them steal data, install malware, or take control of your system. The attacker would need to trick you into visiting a specially crafted webpage to trigger the exploit.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Google Chrome to version 152.0.7977.65 or later to address the use-after-free vulnerability in Views.
