Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an improper input validation issue in Google Chrome on Android. It allows a remote attacker who has already compromised the renderer process to potentially execute arbitrary code outside the sandbox by tricking a user into visiting a specially crafted HTML page.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability is specific to Google Chrome on Android versions prior to 152.0.7977.65. Detection involves checking the installed Chrome version. On Android, go to Settings > Apps > Chrome and verify the version number. If it is below 152.0.7977.65, the system is vulnerable.

Impact Analysis

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability does not directly specify impacts on compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, or other standards. However, improper input validation leading to arbitrary code execution outside the sandbox could potentially compromise data confidentiality and integrity, which are key requirements under GDPR and HIPAA. Organizations should assess the risk based on their specific use of Chrome and data handling practices.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Google Chrome on Android to version 152.0.7977.65 or later to address the vulnerability.
