Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an OS command injection flaw in the zackees transcribe-anything library up to version 4.1.0. It exists in the ytdlp_download function of the ytldp_download.py file. The issue allows attackers to inject malicious commands via the url argument, potentially executing arbitrary code on the affected system.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands on your system with the privileges of the running application. This may lead to unauthorized data access, system compromise, or further network infiltration. The high complexity and difficulty of exploitation may limit widespread attacks.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update zackees transcribe-anything to a version beyond 4.1.0 if available. If no update exists, consider discontinuing use of the affected component ytdlp_download in src/transcribe_anything/ytldp_download.py. Monitor the project for a patch and restrict network access to the vulnerable function if possible.
