Path Traversal in OpenClaw Channel Plugins

Vulnerability report for CVE-2026-100582, including description, CVSS score, EPSS score, affected products, exploitability, helpful resources, and attack-flow context.

Description

OpenClaw channel plugins (@openclaw/msteams, @openclaw/feishu, @openclaw/matrix, and @openclaw/googlechat) before 2026.8.1 do not enforce the configured channel read allowlist for caller-supplied explicit read targets in message, reaction, pin, member, and related metadata read actions. A lower-trust sender or a steered agent with access to a channel read action can therefore retrieve content or metadata from channels or rooms excluded by the operator's read policy; the practical impact depends on the permissions held by the connected bot account. The issue is fixed in 2026.8.1.

Executive Summary

OpenClaw channel plugins for Microsoft Teams, Feishu, Matrix, and Google Chat before version 2026.8.1 fail to enforce configured channel read allowlists when explicit read targets are provided. This allows lower-trust senders or steered agents to bypass read restrictions and access content or metadata from channels or rooms excluded by the operator's policy.

Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check the version of OpenClaw channel plugins (@openclaw/msteams, @openclaw/feishu, @openclaw/matrix, @openclaw/googlechat). If the version is below 2026.8.1, the system is vulnerable. Review logs for unauthorized channel read actions or metadata access attempts.

Impact Analysis

The impact depends on the permissions of the connected bot account. An attacker could retrieve sensitive messages, reactions, pins, member lists, or metadata from restricted channels. This could lead to data leaks, unauthorized access to confidential information, or exposure of internal communications.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access to protected data, violating confidentiality requirements in GDPR and HIPAA. It may result in data breaches, non-compliance with access control policies, and potential legal penalties due to exposure of sensitive personal or health information.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately upgrade OpenClaw channel plugins to version 2026.8.1 or later. If upgrading is not possible, disable explicit-target read actions in channel plugins until the update is applied.
