Executive Summary

OpenClaw before version 2026.7.1 has an authorization bypass vulnerability in the /voice set command. This allows non-owner external-channel senders to persistently modify the Gateway voice configuration. Attackers with command access can change the voice used by Talk responses for the configured provider without needing credentials or additional host capabilities.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this vulnerability requires checking OpenClaw versions before 2026.7.1 and verifying if unauthorized /voice set commands were executed. Inspect logs for external-channel senders modifying voice configurations. No specific commands are provided in the resources.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows unauthorized users to alter voice configurations used in Talk responses. While it does not expose credentials or grant extra host capabilities, it can affect configuration integrity and future voice output for the Gateway.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthorized modification of voice configuration without proper admin authorization, which could impact data integrity and access controls. For GDPR, this may affect integrity of voice data processing. For HIPAA, unauthorized configuration changes could compromise protected health information integrity. The lack of proper authorization checks violates principles of least privilege and access control requirements in both standards.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade OpenClaw to version 2026.7.1 or later. Alternatively, disable the /voice set command in external channels until upgrading. Ensure no unauthorized voice configuration changes have occurred.
