Executive Summary

This vulnerability affects the Heym application before version 0.0.53. It fails to verify Slack request signatures when trigger nodes lack credential IDs or have empty signing secrets. This allows remote unauthenticated attackers to forge Slack events and send them to known webhook URLs, triggering workflows with the owner's credentials.

Detection Guidance

Check if your heym instance is running a vulnerable version (<= 0.0.52) by running: heym version. Inspect Slack webhook configurations for missing or empty signing secrets in the application settings. Monitor network traffic for unexpected Slack event requests to known webhook URLs.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to execute unauthorized workflows using your credentials. This could lead to data breaches, unauthorized actions, or further compromise of your Heym account or connected systems.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could potentially violate compliance with GDPR and HIPAA due to unauthorized access to credentials and workflow execution. Under GDPR, unauthorized access may constitute a breach of data protection principles (Article 5) and could lead to enforcement actions if personal data is exposed. HIPAA requires strict access controls (45 CFR Β§ 164.312(a)(1)) which this flaw undermines by allowing unauthenticated workflow triggers with owner credentials.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade heym to version 0.0.53 or later immediately. Verify all Slack webhook trigger nodes have valid credential IDs and non-empty signing secrets configured. Disable any exposed webhook URLs if not in use.
