Description

Kiteworks Email Protection Gateway before version 9.5.0 is vulnerable to Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF). A server-side request forgery (SSRF) weakness in Kiteworks Email Protection Gateway could allow a remote, unauthenticated attacker to induce the gateway to issue crafted requests to internal or otherwise unintended network destinations. The requests are triggered while the gateway renders message content that references external resources. Depending on the services reachable from the gateway, this could disclose sensitive internal information or trigger unintended actions on internal systems.

Executive Summary

Kiteworks Email Protection Gateway before version 9.5.0 has a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability. This allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to trick the gateway into making crafted requests to internal or unintended network destinations. The issue occurs when the gateway processes message content referencing external resources.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability could allow an attacker to access sensitive internal information or trigger unintended actions on internal systems reachable from the gateway. The impact depends on what services are accessible from the gateway's network.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update Kiteworks Email Protection Gateway to version 9.5.0 or later to address the SSRF vulnerability. Disable rendering of external resources in email content if possible. Restrict network access to the gateway to limit exposure to internal systems.
