Description

Sliver C2 framework version 1.7.7 and earlier contains an unhandled panic vulnerability in the operator gRPC handler that allows an attacker controlling a compromised implant to crash the entire teamserver by returning a malformed or empty Download response. Attackers can send zero-length or 1-3 byte data payloads through a hostile implant session to trigger an out-of-bounds slice access in the vendored Binject library's BinaryMagic function, which propagates unrecovered through the operator gRPC interceptor chain and terminates the server process, affecting all connected operators.

Executive Summary

CVE-2026-102507 is a Denial of Service vulnerability in the Sliver C2 framework versions 1.1.0 through 1.7.7. It occurs when an attacker controlling a compromised implant sends a malformed or empty Download response to the teamserver. This triggers an out-of-bounds slice access in the Binject library's BinaryMagic function, causing a panic that crashes the entire teamserver process, disrupting all connected operators and sessions.

Detection Guidance

Monitor for unexpected crashes of the Sliver teamserver process, especially after implants receive Download tasks. Check logs for panic errors or out-of-bounds slice access messages in the teamserver logs. Use network monitoring to detect malformed or empty responses from implants during Download operations.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows an attacker with control of a compromised implant to crash the Sliver teamserver. This results in total loss of C2 availability, disconnecting all operators, listeners, and implant sessions. The teamserver must be restarted to restore functionality, causing operational downtime.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability causes a denial of service by crashing the Sliver teamserver, which would disrupt all C2 operations and potentially lead to loss of critical data handling capabilities. For GDPR, this could impact availability of personal data processing systems, risking compliance with Article 32 requirements for security and resilience. For HIPAA, it may affect the integrity and availability of protected health information systems, violating Security Rule requirements for safeguards.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade to a patched version of Sliver C2 framework if available. Implement input validation for all data received from implants before processing. Add panic recovery mechanisms in the gRPC interceptor chain to prevent server crashes. Restrict implant permissions to limit their ability to trigger Download tasks.
