Executive Summary

This vulnerability in IBM MQ versions 9.1.0.0 through 10.0.0.0 allows a remote authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary code on the system. The issue arises from the deserialization of untrusted data, which can be exploited to run malicious code remotely.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow attackers to gain control over the affected IBM MQ system. This may lead to unauthorized access, data breaches, or disruption of services, potentially affecting data integrity and availability.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or data breaches, which may violate compliance requirements under GDPR, HIPAA, or other regulations. Organizations using affected IBM MQ versions may face legal penalties or reputational damage.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest IBM MQ patches or updates to versions beyond the affected ranges (9.1.0.37 LTS, 9.2.0.43 LTS, 9.3.0.41 LTS, 9.3.5.1 CD, 9.4.0.25 LTS, 9.4.5.1 CD, or 10.0.0.0).

Restrict remote authenticated access to IBM MQ systems to trusted users only.

Monitor network traffic for unusual deserialization activity or unauthorized code execution attempts.
