Executive Summary

This vulnerability in IBM i versions 7.6, 7.5, 7.4, and 7.3 allows a local authenticated attacker to inject parameters into a CL command. This happens because the system does not properly neutralize special elements, which could let the attacker manipulate command execution.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to run unauthorized commands on the system with the privileges of the authenticated user. This may lead to data access, modification, or disruption depending on the commands executed.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply IBM i PTFs or updates that address the improper neutralization of special elements in CL commands. Monitor IBM i security bulletins for patches and restrict local authenticated user access to prevent parameter injection attempts.
