Executive Summary

The EVbee DC-80 firmware contains a hardcoded root password that is weak and easily guessable. This allows attackers to gain root access via the network-exposed SSH daemon without authentication.

Detection Guidance

Check if the EVbee DC-80 device is exposed to the network with an open SSH port. Use commands like 'nmap -p 22 <target_IP>' to scan for open SSH ports. If SSH is accessible, attempt to log in with the default root credentials if known.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to gain full control over the device, potentially leading to data theft, unauthorized modifications, or disruption of services. The high CVSS score indicates severe impact.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access, violating data protection requirements under GDPR and HIPAA. It may result in non-compliance due to insufficient security controls for sensitive data.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately change the root password on the EVbee DC-80 device to a strong, unique password. Disable SSH access if not required or restrict it to trusted networks only. Contact the vendor for a firmware update to remove the hardcoded password.
