Exploitability

CWE ID Description
CWE-190 The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This occurs when an integer value is incremented to a value that is too large to store in the associated representation. When this occurs, the value may become a very small or negative number.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability is in NVIDIA GPU Display Driver's kernel mode layer. An unprivileged user can trigger an integer overflow that causes an out-of-bounds write. This flaw may allow attackers to execute arbitrary code, disrupt services, escalate privileges, steal data, or alter information.

Detection Guidance

Detection requires checking the NVIDIA GPU Display Driver version. Compare installed driver version against the latest patched version from NVIDIA's security advisory. Use commands like 'nvidia-smi' on Linux or check 'Device Manager' on Windows for driver details.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could let attackers run malicious code on your system, crash applications or the OS, gain higher-level access, steal sensitive data, or modify files without authorization. Systems with NVIDIA GPU drivers are at risk.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the NVIDIA GPU Display Driver to the latest version provided by NVIDIA. Apply vendor patches immediately. Restrict user privileges to minimize exploitation risk. Monitor systems for unusual activity.
