Executive Summary

This vulnerability is an incorrect access control issue in the staticInfoSend function of TOTOLINK T6 firmware version 4.1.5cu.748_B20211015. It allows unauthenticated attackers to send a specially crafted MQTT message to the cs_broker component, which forces the device to report static information to a configured master server without requiring any authentication.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability could allow attackers to remotely extract sensitive device information without authorization. This might include network configurations, device identifiers, or other static data that could be used for further attacks or reconnaissance on the network.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to access static information reporting, which could lead to unauthorized data exposure. This may violate compliance requirements under GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health data privacy) by enabling unauthorized access to sensitive information.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update TOTOLINK T6 firmware to the latest version to fix the access control issue in the staticInfoSend function. Disable unnecessary MQTT services if not required. Monitor network traffic for unusual MQTT message exchanges to the cs_broker component.
